Trash Pick-Up AME Palyground/Parsons Road

This is just an announcement that as part of PM's committment to grassroots social action there is to be a PM led initiative to pick up trash at the AME playground (kind of between TCD and Glebe Rd.) on Monday July 2nd, at 6pm.

The idea is to pick up the litter in that area and along the street there. This site was chosen due to its proximity to Alaska Hall, and as this is the first such initiative, this proximity was thought to be beneficial for such a trial.

The Naked Truth about the UBP

1.) white bermudians do not make up 35% of the population as beachryan has incorrectly stated. that number is much smaller.

What Have You Done to Help Your Countrymen Lately?

That is a question that all Bermudians should ask themselves. Instead of expecting people to do things for us, what have we done to help ourselves?

In my opinion there is a detrimental culture of pointing the blame at everyone else but ourselves. For example, we complain about the education system (it does have flaws), but what has the general public done about it apart from complain? How many community based tutoring programs have been created? How many parents went the extra mile to help their children with their lessons?

Fact: White Fear

i've noticed that in recent years that everyone from bill clinton, to tony blair, to the german government and various southern states have apologized for slavery and or their treatment to Blacks during a particular period of time. some Blacks and whites applauded these moves some did not.

i feel that in these instances - the group doing the apologizing were still the "majority"; still in a position of power - therefore making it easier to be contrite.

Just the Facts

1. FACT:
In 2002, an operation initiated, presumably, by order of the Governor of Bermuda, the Bermuda Police Service, Britain’s Scotland Yard and US Homeland Security mounted a joint investigation into allegations of illegalities related to the BHC.

2. FACT:
The formidable assets available to and deployed on behalf of the investigating units and countries produced – through due process - the prosecution, conviction and incarceration of a person guilty of criminal action in relation to the BHC.

3. FACT:

Lets take a deep breath.........

Ok, now that we've calmed down and when you can post again, lets do better. As someone that could post during the timeout I have to say it's sad that it had to come to this. I know it's not the fault of all, but those that played a part in the cause for the timeout need to learn the meaning of the word RESPECT (on both sides). I am PLP all the way, all the way PLP!

To the admin or to whome it concerns,

It is indeed sad to see name calling on this blog site. I'm a member
and I read the blogs everyday and I wish to take part in blogging but to me
this site is turning into a playground. All I see are the same people
threading ignorant comments and not thoughts of progress. Also, I see
people trying to show how smart and articulate they are but not presenting
food for thought. Where is the constructive reason of argument (if I can say

Press Release from the Premier

This is a disappointing day for all Bermuda's innocent citizens.

Our judiciary has taught us confidential documents related to Police investigations are fit to print - even if the subjects of the investigation have been fully exonerated of criminal wrongdoing. The ruling seems grossly unfair and is a devastating blow to public confidence in the Police.

Nonetheless the jurists have spoken and their determination, or the determination of a higher court, must be honored because Bermuda is a country of laws and good order.

The Bermudian Best of Bermuda Awards

Most Effective Politician - Michael Dunkley

Most Pit Bull Politician - Louise Jackson

Minister of Intimidation - Derrick Burgess

Whose Job Would you most Life - Ewart Brown because he travels in motorcades, spends money and answers to no one.

These awards are absolutely ridiculous. How is Mr Dunkley most effective? The only things he has been effective in are ousting his friend Wayne Furbert, and creating scandal where there is none. What else effective has he done?

Media error

According to the Bank of Bermuda, former Minister of Health and Member of Parliament for Pembroke East, Nelson Bascome has never stolen any money from the Bank. Mr. Bascome was charged in Magistrates Court on Thursday, June 14, 2007 on three counts, one of which is stealing $56,000 which was entrusted to him by the Bank of Bermuda for business purposes between September 2003 and February 2004.

Diggin' for Dirt

Below is a Press Release from the Premier. All i can say is, how low can the media go!

Just as the public is well informed on the work of its elected officials, it should also be kept abreast on the work of some of its media organizations.

To that end, the public should know The Royal Gazette has spent the week very closely searching through the Premier’s and his wife’s personal backgrounds. One example stretches back ten years.

'Swift and Meaningful Action'

A couple of weeks ago the Premier called on the Governor to take ‘swift and meaningful action’ to find who stole confidential files from the police and leaked them to the media. I’m sure the Premier was surprised that the Governor actually listened (if he’s not I sure as hell am). In what the UBP sensationalisers are calling an unprecedented move and a misdirected witch-hunt saw their idol Larry Denis the AUDITOR General arrested and questioned.

Caring for our Seniors

While the media is all a frenzy over political games, the PLP government is delivering for Bermudians. A few days ago, we unveiled a sweeping, new and progressive plan for providing our disabled with equality of access. Now, the PLP government is looking out for our respected elders.

Equality of Access

Minister Wayne Perinchief recently unveiled the National Policy on Disabilities to the acclaim of members of both parties. Noting that 3,000 Bermudians live with disabilities, Minister Perinchief and the PLP government team acknowledge both the difficulty of living with a disability and the fact that many disabled Bermudians are subject to discrimination.

UBP plan for Government - Let's call in Max's mortgage!!

Is it 2007, or 1967?
Does the UBP really expect us to believe they are the New UBP?
Today's Royal Gazette has on the front page an article where Capital G (as in Gibbons), has called in Maxwell Burgess mortgage if he cannot come up with a repayment plan as he owes 1.6M in funds to CapitalG. I find all of this ironic. There is no way in hell that Max just accumulated this debt. So why is it just being called in?
Does it have to do with the fact that he has announced he won't be running for the UBP in the next election?

Be careful what you ask for...

You just might get it!

These words of advice should have been given to UBP Senator Gina Spence Farmer prior to her request for a list of delinquent charities. She then wanted to know who was on the list and what the government was going to do to bring these charities into current status.
Um, sorry Senator, did you not expect for your charity Gina Spence Productions In Christ to be on that list? What are YOU going to do to get YOUR charity off the delinquent list? Does she not know what is going on with her own charity and what issues there may be?

Brown and Cox Deliver for Bermuda

Kudos to Premier Ewart Brown and Deputy Premier Paula Cox on the incredible success of the US-Bermuda bilateral visit.

Yesterday's productive visit had the Bermuda team visiting with ten influential members of Congress in seven hours. This included high ranking members in both the U.S. Senate and the U.S. House from both the Republican and Democratic parties.
